Our new Domain, Website and Blog

A few weeks ago someone hacked into my blog at knittersclasses.com. They deleted all of my posts and replaced them with spam posts. It was devastating to lose all of that work but I learned some valuable lessons about passwords. It’s hard to remember complicated passwords but now I know that my easy password was a target for hackers. As bad as it was, it gave me an opportunity  to change my domain name to match my business name so it will be easier for people to find.  To celebrate my new adventure, I am giving away a set of our “Pick 2 or 3” variety pack of labels featured here. Pick 2 or 3 Variety PackIt is a set of 30 labels and you can choose any 2 or 3 graphics in our Etsy store (mountainstreetarts.etsy.com) and have any 2 lines of type you would like. All you have to do is subscribe to my blog and leave a comment  letting me know how you keep cool while knitting or crocheting this summer. Contest will close at midnight on Saturday July 27th and winner will be chosen by random using the “winner is” plug in on Sunday July 28th. I hope you enjoy my new website and blog. Happy knitting and crocheting.

  1. Your new blog look fantastic! Lots of hard work but worth the effort. Congrats.

  2. I am sorry your site got hacked and am impressed with your ability to keep it positive. I knit small projects like socks in the summer or knit with cotton yarn. Air conditioning helps. =)

  3. Love your labels! Here in Prince Edward Island it doesn’t get really hot very often, but when it does, I have a fan right beside me while I knit. I don’t see anywhere to subscribe to your blog, can you point me in the right direction?

  4. Lori, Thank you for pointing out that you couldn’t subscribe to my blog. It’s fixed an now shows up in the left hand column. Sorry about that!

  5. Your format looks great. Just another example of making lemonade out of lemons.

  6. I work on small things out of natural fibers, with a tall glass of tea and a cool breeze.

  7. Very nice, easy to navigate blog! Love your labels!!!

  8. Love the new site. In the summer I knit small projects like: socks, shawls and purses. Must knit no matter what.

  9. I do most of my knitting and crocheting on the over air conditioned subways and at meetups in restaurants. The latter has not been completely successful. Is there one restaurant in Brooklyn with working air conditioning?

  10. I am so sorry your website was hacked, what kind of person does something like that? I love your labels, they are so very pretty. I will keep coming back to order from you. Keep your chin up.

  11. Love the new blog! Glad to see you up and running. I’ll change the links on my blog when I featured you to point to this blog now. 🙂 Thanks!

  12. Love your etsy store! It is just what I am looking for! I too consider myself a fiber artist and keep it simple in the summer by knitting with sock yarns, mostly shawls and scarves. That, and a nice cold iced tea nearby!

  13. Your tags are just what I was looking for to use on my crochet goodies!! Iced coffee or tea makes a nice partner for summer crocheting 🙂

  14. Again, I’m too latte for your fun giveaway 🙁 Oh well, maybe next time. Congrats to whomever won!

We’ve been having *extreme-heat* very hot summer, in the +37C (100F) Kelowna, BC & area. Set new records in July for zero rainfall in 32 days. Needless to say, we’ve been living with the coolness & sounds of fans (I’ve started to call it ‘white noise’ to help us sleep, not that I need it).

I don’t think I’ve gone a single day not knitting or crocheting. In summer, I do most of my work as soon as I get up with my 1st cuppa coffee 🙂 I’ve been trying to finish a bulky-weight baby blanket for a new grandchild soon-to-be-born end of Aug. It’s been so hot & muggy to work on that, so I’m making some fine-weight cotton mug-covers (to keep the wasps & bugs out) when we’re sitting in the shade by the lake.

Congrats again on designing a beautiful, easy-to-read, happy website. Seems those hackers are worming their way in just about everywhere these days. Grrrrrrrrr!!

So to end on a happy note, somehow this post grew & grew!!
    Enjoy our day!
